Ozark communities had identifying features that set them apart from the others. For example, in the community of Elbow, for years on the east side of town people expected to see an elderly man sitting in a rocking chair beside the road. Over the years, Uncle Lee as he was known, developed the ability to tell historical events that had taken place in Elbow as only he could. Add in a strange love affair between Joe Harrison and Mattie Haines and you have an interesting book well worth reading.
